What Causes Depression In A Person With Low Vitamin B12 And Sodium Levels?

My b12 was low so had to start taking shot once and then when not working twice per week. I m taking b12 under my tongue daily but sodium is low. Taking in lots of sodium through nuts, pretzels real salt and water and sodium still at 130. Neurologist has put me on anti depressants while waiting for blood tests and mri results. I have done a salvia test to test out hormonal imbalance and adrenal and waiting for results. Have experienced confusion, memory, fogginess, exhaustion and now becoming depressed. It s been going on since Sept. I don t know if I should ask to see an endocrinologist or the next thing I should look at. It takes so long to get results and start all over again. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think you should test your thyroid function because a low thyroid may also give these symptoms of depression and bad mood. Also, you may need to start antidepressant treatment.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
