What Causes Depression While On Rexulti?

I started taking Rexulti a couple of weeks ago, on my 3 rd week. I don t want to go anywhere or do anything, I hate my life right now and hate doing anything. I loved everything before but the nurse practitioner thinks I a by polar because in my past I use to go out and spend money just to feel better. I have been on 2 different by polar meds and they make me want to stay in my room all day. Is this normal?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

No, it's not normal to stay at home all the time. Rexulti (Brexpiprazole) is an atypical antipsychotic medication.

If you have so much distress & discomfort with it then you can report to the PCP, he may lower the dose or switch to a different medication.

Staying at home will make you melancholy, go outdoors & enjoy life. Stay away from addictions if any, maintain a healthy lifestyle, stay well nourished.

Don't be a spendthrift but do help yourself feeling happy. Take adequate sleep & exercise regularly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
