What Causes Diarrhea After Eating Food?

My husband has been swallowing chewing tobacco spit for over 10 years. The last 3 to 5 years he cannot for a solid stool after eating and has very impulsive direahha as soon as he eats anything. I need to know if these two are related & if we need to follow through the with a endoscopy?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for your query.

Yes, the diarrhea and swallowing of tobacco juice could be related.
I recommend :
-a physician and gastroenterologist consult
-blood tests (complete blood count, kidney and liver function tests, electrolyte levels )
-urine analysis
-stool analysis
- an endoscopy and colonoscopy to check for inflammatory bowel lesions.

Based on this we can arrive at a diagnosis and treatment plan.
In the meantime :
-avoid spicy, oily foods
-include more natural fiber in the diet like fresh whole fruits and vegetables.
-keep well hydrated (enough to have light coloured urine)

Please see a doctor as soon as possible.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
Wish you good health
