What Causes Diarrhea After Eating With A History Of Back Surgery?

I have been having diarrhea every time I eat for several weeks. I have no other symptoms and I m not losing any weight. I had back surgery in April and had been on pain meds for years. I have been off all meds for 3 weeks. Could this be why I am having diarrhea ?

Hello,

Yes, chronic pain killer medicines can cause diarrhea. Actually chronic ingestion of these medications leads to gastropathy (changes in gastric mucosa).

So digestion and absorption are not proper and hence patient suffers from chronic diarrhea. Better to consult a gastroenterologist and get done upper GI (gastrointestinal) scopy and lower GI scopy took diagnose this.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
