What Causes Diarrhea After Gallbladder Removal?

I had my gallbladder out two years ago..still have pain similar to a gall bladder attack at tomes. I suffer from diarrhea ..never know when it will hit me..I may not have a bm for several days and then I will have diarrhea. I also have indigestion often after eating. I have had an upper GI..an MRI of my stomach and liver area and all were negative..also my blood work including liver enzymes has been normal. Any suggestions? Will I always have this?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Diarrhea with altered GI status sounds to be postcholecystectomy syndrome experienced by many such patients.

There are no specific measures to cure this except lifestyle modifications, dietary measures and supportive treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel,
