Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had about 1 foot of my large intestine removed about three years ago, about two later I had to have a colonostepe done. The Dr. found that I had an infection where the colon was put together. He gave me strong antibotics for the infection. Never thought about it much about about it anymore. About three weeks ago I started having dirrear, every time I ate anything, feeling slugish, not good at all. I got one of those colon test, well the Dr ordered me one. It came back positive for blood in my stool. Now I have to go get another colonoostpe done. I m scared I have cancer. What is your opinion?
You have had a foot of your colon surgically removed 3 years ago. Now, my question is What Was the primary reason? Next, there is a chance for bowels to stick together at the site of resection. When bowel movement is not regular, then infection might result especially if ulcerative colitis was the primary reason for surgery. Diarrhoea you are experiencing is due to alteration of intestinal flora from antibiotic use. Probiotics are required to use and metronidazole or antifungal meds orally. Pepto-Bismol can help ease diarrhoea boots. Should keep regular follow up with your gastroenterologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
