What Causes Diarrhea After Having Meals During Pregnancy?

Hi.. I am pregnant in my 27th week. I just realized that over the past few weeks I am having Dirareria after every meal I eat. I didn t think it was something I should worry about as its not associated with any pain or anything. Is this normal during pregnancy considering that the stoll is dark and loose..

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As per your query you are having symptoms of diarrhea after having meals during 27 week of pregnancy, which seems to be due to electrolyte imbalance, poor digestion, and gastroenteritis and it could be dangerous. I would suggest you to consult gastroenterologist for proper examination. Doctor may order stool test and blood test to check if it is due to viral infection and start treatment accordingly. You should eat light and non spicy , avoid food like seafood and nuts and keep your head elevated while lying down. You should avoid intake of outside food.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
