What Causes Diarrhea After Removal Of The Spleen?

Hi....ever since my spleen was taken out over 2 years ago because of a large tumor (Non Hodgkins) my digestive tract has changed. My diet did not change I have been a vegetarian for many years and I eat a non processed, 70% organic diet as before, but now when I go to the bathroom in the morning it all happens very quickly and never solid. Is this an unhealthy event and I cannot help but believe the spleen removal has something to do with it otherwise what can it be!? Appreciate any comments....

Hi,

If these symptoms only started after spleen removal then as you stated, there could be a link between the two through the spleen does not play a role in digestion and defecation.
It is possible that on the removal of the spleen, there was contact or injury to the bowel. It would be best to speak to your gastroenterologist for assessment. In addition to stool tests, imaging may be needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
