What Causes Diarrhea And Abdominal Bloating?

I`ve been diagnosed with a hiatial hernia, this is known. I have on again, off again severe diareaha. Gas, belches that could send a 20 year garbage man running for cover, and sometimes bloating that goes away when i belch strongly. Getting up in the morning usually results in several trips to the bathroom releasing gas and diareaha, before i head out the door for work.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for trusting HealthcareMagic for your health concern

Persistent gas and bloating ,recurrent trips to the bathroom is unlikely due to the hiatal hernia. Other possibilities should be considered including
Lactose intolerance: screened by breath hydrogen testing
Gluten sensitivity:screened by anti transglutaminase, anti float in antibody levels
Inflammatory bowel disease:stool.microscopy and analysis. If increased blood and white cells in stool, then colonoscopy is warranted

Please be advised to follow up with your primary care provider for further evaluation and management.

Hope this answers your questions
