What Causes Diarrhea And Abdominal Pain Long After Treating Chronic Gastritis?

HI. I have had persist diarrhea with some abdominal pain. I recently had an upper gi and was told that I have chronic gastritis 13 years ago I had a leaking diverticuli and had a colostomy which was reversed. I had absolutely no discomfort before the surgery, but I wasen t 76. I am in excellent health 5 and 117 or so. I took in a stool sample to the lab this morning. My question is, wondering what the pain means. I value the quality of my life and would never have another colostomy. Trying not to put the cart before the horse, but with my history of having no pain and with pain, I am expecting less than good news. I m interested in your opinion. My thanks to you. Sincerely. Elizabeth Jansen.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

An infected diverticula can very well lead to pain. I will advise a detailed abdominal examination followed by CT scan if required.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Loveleen Sharma, General & Family Physician
