What Causes Diarrhea And Black Stool Despite Giving Motrin In A Child?

yes, my daughter had a fever of 103.7 on Sunday morning, with diarrhea, went to the ER and they said viral infection, this morning she had stiff neck and headache also had some blood in the stool, went back to the ER and they gave her an IV and a liquid Motrin, this evening her stool was still runny and dark almost black and had some back clots and some mucus.. do I need to take her back to the ER?

Hello,

I think you should go to the hospital. Having blood in stools and more diarrhea and blood is an emergency. Possibly she may be suffering from shigella and needs to get tested. Antibiotics may be needed.
