What Causes Diarrhea And Nausea After Taking Flagyl?
I had iv vancomycin with a total knee replacement and have had GI issues on and off for 9 mos. we suspect C Diff but I was never tested for it, my fault. I did a 2 wk. course of Flagyl and it seemed to help for awhile, but I have symptoms on and off. These incl. stomach pain, diarrhea, and nausea. The diarrhea has not been severe enough that anyone takes this seriously. This is complicated by the loss of my primary care doctor and a new one who has never seen me.
At this point, should run stool culture and sensitivity testing to determine the right diagnosis.
Take:
- probiotics to stabilize intestinal flora
- tasectan or Pepto Bismol to stop diarrhoea
- you might need antifungals, but consider taking after getting the result of stool culture and sensitivity testing.
Discuss this further with your caring doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
