What Causes Diarrhea, Constipation And Stomach Pain?

Hi, I ve been having flu like symptoms for a few weeks. I ve been experiencing diarrhea, constipation, pain in my stomach (stomach gurgling), feeling week, no fever using a thermometer although I feel like I have a fever, sweaty, feeling of nausea (like I want to vomit). It s been mostly affecting me on the weekends but goes away during the week. I m not on any diet or taking any meds aside from anti-depressants. I was wondering if it is possible to experience a flu for weeks but have it come and go? Or else could it be something else?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you are having diarrhea, constipation and stomach pain. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like gastroenteritis , food poisoning , irritable bowel syndrome , lactose intolerance , giardiasis or intestinal Ileus. Need not to worry. For now eat light and non spicy , avoid food like sea food and nuts , take antacid after every meal and keep your head elevated while lying down . I would suggest you to consult gastroenterologist for proper examination . Doctor may order stool test , ultrasound , endoscopy along with that take history . Doctor may prescribe laxative , ornidazole or albendazole along with ranitidine .
