Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Diarrhea With Rashes On The Abdomen And Arm Of An Infant?
23 month old male has had diarrhea x one day ( 3 beige liquid ). Rash appeared this afternoon, large red patches on abdomen, back, diaper area, creases of right arm. Vomited x 1. No fever, no cough, no runny nose. Active, drinking lots of water and milk.
Since he is still active with no fever, have you considered an allergy? Did you introduce any new foods recently? Is there a history of allergy in the family? If it is indeed an allergy, trying to identify the trigger is important. Since it is just the first episode, I would advise you to just wait it out, and watch for the pattern if it does recur.
If he gets more ill with a fever or is unable to keep his fluids down then you may consider a visit to your local doctor's to make sure he is not dehydrated or has a viral rash.
Hope this helps.
Regards, Dr. Teh
