What Causes Difference In Blood Pressures Of Arm And Leg?

Hello My name is Pankaj and I am 35 yrs old..I fell very I ll when I was 24 yrs old and many tests HV been done in which I got diagonised with high B.P. From then I am taking medicine...At present I take Telmikind-AM.. From the last 8 yrs I am doing Health checkup...Recently I HV done it and in echo one cardiologist says there might be some problem... He checked my B.P. in arms and leg...and there is great difference between the two... Arm B .P is 160/80 and leg B p is 110/60.... he suggested to do angiography....Kindly tell what to do and which medicine should be taken.. Thanking u...

Hi,

Difference in blood pressures of arm and leg signifies problems in your circulatory system.One of the main cause is
Claudication of the aorta.
Peripheral vascular disease also may result in such pressure differences.

Take your anti-hypertensive medicines as advised by your doctor.
You ll need to go through some tests like
CXR(PA view),
ECG,
ECHO,
Coronary angiography,
USG colour doppler of the blood vessels.

I suggest you to go to a cardio-thoracic surgeon and consult with him about your problems with all investigation reports.
If there is problem with your aorta which seems to be the likely cause,then you ll require surgical intervention.
Medicines ll not cure your problem permanently.
