What Causes Difference In Creatinine Levels In Two Different Labs?
I'm here to ask your medical advice for my maternal uncle who is suffering from acute kidney failure. He is 45 yrs old man, he is having diabetic for since 10yrs and he is consuming Amalong A for his high BP. Upon testing his blood, we came to know that his serum creatininne level is 10.9 mg/dl, Urea level is around 123 and potassium level is also bit high. Upon Consulting one of the Nephrologists, he advised to go for hemodialysis. but what we are confused is that the same test taken at different lab shows abnormality report which has mismatch value, like serum creatinine level is 6.5 mg/dl at some other lab. why is it so? If we opt for hemodialysis, can we do dialysis some period of time until the levels in the blood become normal or near to normal level. He is not seen with any symptoms like body swelling and the likes. please advice me sir
Hello there, I am dr.milan an infectious disease specialist answering your question. This error in test result is because of inappropriate procedure of testing. So first you go through test with reliable pathology lab and by a qualified pathologist. This value 10.9 is very high. Normally it found near 1 unit. so it is comparatively very high enough to make us worry. S.create will be down only after you gone through dialysis. Without dialysis it will increase. When kidney is not working properly s.create is increase in our blood and it is need to be removed via help of dialysis. Dialysis is nothing but its an artificial kidney. So just do test properly and follow advice of your consultant. Hope i have given appropriate guidance to you. if you have any query you can consult me anytime. Give me star rating according to your satisfactory level. Thanking you.
