What Causes Difficulty Breathing After Sneezing?

Hi.. I have this condition wherein whenever I sneeze, I find myself gasping for breath.. I jave never been diagnosed with asthma or bronchitis in d past. I am allergic to dust though.. I dont have much hair in my nostrils since birth.. So it keeps my ENT department quite vulnerable.. This problem of asphyxiation has worsened in the past 6 months or so.. I sneeze quite often too.. I dont smoke.. Occasionally, i go for a hookah.. And drink once or twice a month.. Please suggest..

Hello,

You experience difficulty breathing after sneezing. You are allergic to dust but have never been diagnosed with asthma or bronchitis. Such symptom can be experienced if you suffer from allergic rhinitis. It can cause stuffy nose, inflamed airways due to allergens, like dust, mites, pollen, smoke, etc.

It can start as episodes of sneezing and excess mucus in the airways may cause difficulty in breathing. Avoid going outdoors and stay an allergen-free environment. Wear cotton clothes. Clean the room where you stay and remove all dust collecting household things like carpets, bedspreads etc.

Using low dose steroidal nasal sprays, it will help to get rid of the problem. Taking antihistamines are effective. Nasal decongestant drops too relieve congestion. Avoid taking alcohol, drugs, smoking or hookah as they can trigger your symptoms.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
