What Causes Difficulty In Balance, Head Pressure And Ear Pain?

I ve had this complaint for years. But as I have got older it has worsen. I am off balance all the time, feeling like I have a thick head and sometimes a earache. My doctor did a MRI and found something about the white matter in my ears to be investgated. My off balance makes me feel I will fall backwards, and if I lean forward I feel I will fall frontwards. I can t climb stairs, for the same reason, nor can I stand on one leg. I saw a specialist and he said it was optic migraine. and put me on allegron. which I had bad side effects. Could you guide me if that is right.

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you are suffering form difficulty in balance, head pressure and ear pain . Well there can be many reasons for vertigo like benign paroxysmal positional vertigo , Vertigo may also be caused by inflammation within the inner ear sometimes due to infection , meniere's disease , acoustic neuroma , sinusitis and multiple sclerosis . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may order test like rotatory chair test , examination with otoscope , head movement test , posturography , blood test and CT scan . Doctor may prescribe ant emetic drug , sedatives , antibiotics , vestibular therapy and some ear aid like meniett device . For now avoid bending foreword , take steam , drink green tea thrice a day and do light exercises daily .
