What Causes Difficulty In Breathing After Recovering From Pneumonia?

I was in the hospital for 19 days for pneumonia and a pleural effusion. Was on levaquin interveniously. My legs were swollen in the hospital and a month later they are still swollen and sore. I am also extremely tired and have a hard time breathing and just walking a short distance. How long should I expect the swollen legs, the fatigue and the hard time breathing to continue. It s been two months now.

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Thanks for your question on HCM. In my opinion you should recheck following things again as usual pneumonia should not last for more than 20-25 days. It is something else.
1. Consult pulmonologist first.
2. Get done repeat chest x ray and if needed CT thorax to evaluate better. As CT gives more idea about pneumonia whether increasing or static.
3. 2D Echo to rule out cardiac cause as pleural effusion and edema feet can be seen in heart problems.
4. S. Protein levels, thyroid profile and CBC for searching other causes for edema feet.
