What Causes Difficulty In Eating?

Hi, I m a 17 year old female. I ve been having a lot of difficulty eating for at least two weeks now. Its not that I don t want to eat because I do want to its just that I physically cannot eat. I haven t eaten in 2 days yet I feel full. When I try to eat something it just makes me feel sick so I don t eat it. I m also experiencing pain in my ribs & abdomen with this and I m always tired. I m 5ft 5 and weigh now about 6st3 at the most because feeling so ill has lead me to lose weight. Do you have any idea as to what may be wrong with me?

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Dear service user, thank you for writing to healthcaremagic.
I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.
You admitted difficulty eating for last couple of weeks.
Feeling of fullness after eating little, eating less than usual, unrealistic beliefs about food on body weight and self image are symptoms of eating disorder.
Decreased appetite and loosing weight are also common symptoms of depression.
I advise you to consult psychiatrist and discuss your problem with him. He will help you to come out of this problem by counselling and medicines if necessary.
I hope this will help you.
Feel free to ask again if you want.
Warm regards.
