What Causes Difficulty In Hearing After Using Otis Ear Drops?

Hi Dr. I have used otocomb Otis ear drops for about 5 days but have told to stop by a GP as its cause for both my ears to feel full and not able to hear properly. I went to another GP that s said my ear looks very red, ear drum yellow and little bubbles inside. Had no answers as to why my ears are so full and unable to hear properly anymore. I told them it started from the ear drops that made my ears worse.I m now on antibiotics to help with the infected ears . But I m more worried about how long will it take for me to hear properly again from the cause of the ear drops and should I see another GP about it?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It sounds like you had a middle ear infection, which is an infection on the inside of your eardrum, for which ear drops would not be effective.

Often this kind of infection can affect your hearing, so I would suspect this is the cause, and not the ear drops you were taking.

Antibiotics should help to treat this infection, and your hearing, if it is from this cause, should improve over the next weeks.

If you are continuing to have problems with your ears at that point, I would see your GP again and have your ears looked at again.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
