What Causes Difficulty In Passing Stool In An Infant?
my baby boy is 1month old.he has not passed stool today and is crying a lot.wat to do.last week he was suffering from motions.I consulted a doctor and giving him simethicone n dill drops.but today he is crying a lot n not passing stool.This is the frst time from his birth that he has not done stool.
Dear Thanks for contacting with your health concern and following is stepwise approach
1. Infant cannot tell what is wrong. It only cries,so examine from head to toe.
a. If everything looks normal, commonest cause is intestinal colic due to hunger, worms & constipation.
. feed the baby . give soap stick to empty the bowels . Gripe water: 1 tablespoon thrice daily
2. Consider a Paediatric consultation for symptomwise management:
. bulging fontanelle and neck stiffness to exclude meningitis . inspect both ear drums carefully with a good torch for redness/swelling or bulging ear drum . examine the abdomen carefully for lump, distension, visible peristalsis or tenderness.
