And since then I have been experiencing severe pain and difficulties during bowel movements..... The pain killers help but as soon as the effect wears off, the pain shoots up.....the day before yesterday I observed some sort of pale yellow discharge on the wound..... I went to the doctor and he said that it s common..... I have to fly abroad on the 21st of this month.... Will the pain subside by then....??????... What Causes Difficulty In Passing Stools Post Fistulotomy?
Hi, Usually, fistulectomy patients can start having normal movements in 2-3 weeks of surgery as discharge & pain reduces by the time. Complete healing takes about 6-8 weeks (depending on the severity of fistula & healing power of the patient. Till then maintenance of local hygiene, continuing medicines advised avoiding constipation & stress like Webb lifting should be observed. By 25th pain & discharge should be minimal so would be possible. Still it s better to consult your surgeon with reference to your travel. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care Regards, Dr Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
