What Causes Difficulty In Retracting Foreskin Post Frenuloplasty?

I had a frenuloplasty procedure recently. 5 days later, I still cannot retract my foreskin to clean underneath properly. The foreskin is still swollen which makes it uncomfortable to attempt this, but I am maintaining good hygiene as best I can. Do you expect this to be a problem? How long before this should be seen as an issue?

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

Frenuloplasty is a procedure to fix the frenulum which is a part of skin attaching the glans to the foreskin. The foreskin and frenulum might be swollen due to edema and this is part of normal after frenuloplasty. Please consult your doctor to confirm that there is no excessive swelling which requires attention.

After frenuloplasty there can be healing and scar formation. 5 days is too early to retract the foreskin and 7 to 10 days should be allowed before the foreskin can be comfortably retracted. This is a temporary condition and if should be healed in 10 days time. After that with lubrication jelly you can try to retract the foreskin slowly. Please do not use excessive force. Please do not worry.
