I dont think that swallowing difficulties and cough must be related and this may be about two separated diosrders so both should be evaluated sepparately. Swallowing problem may be related to enlarged thyroid but also it may be sign of serious esophagus problems or gastritis and GERD so gastroscopy is mandatory in these cases. Second, some things such as gerd or reflux may be associated with breahing difficulties but also it is in most cases linked to lung problems such as bronchitis or emphysema You need to do lung ventilation tests to rule this out.
