When swallowing I feel like something is stuck but it lower in my chest, and it hurts. I started feeling like this about 2 days ago and thought I had eaten too fast and not chewed My food properly. The feeling was higher up and seems to have moved down to middle of chest. Antacid doesn t help for long or get rid of it.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Your problem seems to be due to eating a big bite hurriedly which caused trauma to the epiglottis, throat & possibly esophagus. Hyper acidity causing damage to these parts by acid regurgitation, if you have it, may add to the symptoms.

You need to take antacid like Gelusil tablets & proton pump inhibitor over the counter (Ranitidin). Eat bland, non-sticky & non oily food at room temperature. Avoid fasting. Eat small servings frequently (2 hourly cold milk). Take anti inflammatory pill if pain. Consult doctor if there's no relief in 4-5 days.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
