What Causes Difficulty In Swallowing And Breathing Difficulty?

Last night Had trouble swallowing. Lasted 60 minutes. Could still breathe. Went to ER and it ended so couldn t really figure out diagnosis. I ve had same incident in the past but only lasted a few seconds. I m 57, overweight, blood fine although high cholesterol.

It is possible that you may have a spasm or contraction of the esophagus that is causing the difficulty swallowing. Imaging at the time of the difficulty may sometimes reveal the problem in some persons.
You may want to consider seeing a gastroenterologist or ENT doctor for assessment.
