What Causes Difficulty In Swallowing And Breathing?
I ve been experiencing issues with the back of my throat feeling Swollen making it hard to breath and swallow. This feeling comes and goes. I also get dry mouth when this happens. I have cintipation issues as well even though I m eating fiber.. Is this associated?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of difficulty in swallowing and breathing which seems to be due to secretions of acid in mouth leading to acid reflux and could be due to post nasal drip and bacterial infection of upper respiratory tract.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to avoid eating spicy and heavy food specially at night. You should take small and frequent meals and avoid large meals at a time. You should take light walk after every meal and eat at least one hour before going to sleep. Do warm saline gargles and avid cold beverages. Consult gastroenterologist for proper examination . Doctor may order x-ray of digestive tract along with endoscopy of esophagus. Doctor may prescribe H2 blockers or proton pump inhibitor. Doctor may also refer you to ENT specialist.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
