What Causes Difficulty In Swallowing And Choking Sensation In The Mid Chest Area?

Husband is experiencing trouble swallowing, feels like there is a blockage right in the base of the center of his chest, chophouses area. Feels if he could burp he could dislodge it. Started this evening at dinner, took a bite of food and felt like it was lodged. Has been having a gag reflects type symptoms and some dry heave issues.

These symptoms and signs indicate hiatal hernia and this is protruding stomach into chest so it may press lungs and cause choking sensation and burping inability. this can be treated by antiacid medications but sometimes surgery may be the only option.
