What Causes Difficulty In Swallowing And Excessive Weight Loss?

I am concerned about my 31 year old son who periodically cannot eat or drink. Swallowing is not the problem. He says he just cannot get anything down. He is 6 ft tall and has always been thin. But he has recently lost 10 pounds and is down to 135 pounds.

I can understand your concern.
Swallowing difficulty and weight loss are more suggestive of esophageal and stomach related diseases.
Esophageal diseases like polyp or mass or achalsia cardia can cause similar symptoms.
Stomach diseases like GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease) and mass can cause similar symptoms.
So better to take him to gastroenterologist and get done upper GI (gastrointestinal) scopy and barium swallow to find out cause.
