What Causes Difficulty In Swallowing Food?

When eating or drinking( I can still breath) however it will not go down and almost always will get stuck in my throat until ALL THE LIQUIDS OR FOOD IS REMOVED THROUGH COUGHING OR self Heimlich Maneuver. I can not burp during this process but it seems that once I can swallow and burp it goes away? Sometimes it lasts for at least an hour..I can not swallow even water.

Hi welcome to the health care magic

Here your examination esp posterior pharynx needs to be examined for giving more comment

Esophagitis, tonsillitis, severe pharyngitis with congestion, growth etc might be the cause

According to cause further specific treatment given

If tonsillitis is the cause then antibiotic course given

If congestion and inflammatory swelling more then short term steroid course given

If needed endoscopy will be done if no specific cause found

Take care

Consult physician or gastroenterologist for examination and further work up accordingly

Hope your concern solved
