General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Achalasia is a failure of smooth muscle fibers to relax, which can cause the lower esophageal sphincter to remain closed.

So, achalasia is probably the cause of his problem.

I suggest you follow up with a gastrologist for further evaluation and specific treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
