What Causes Difficulty In Swallowing?

I have just started having trouble swallowing. It isn t severe but I am afraid it may caus choking on my food at some point. I hav also read that it could be a symptom of thyroid cancer. My fiance s 59 year-old cousin died of thyroid cancer in 2011 and it was horrible watching her go through her disease. I am a 66 year-old woman who is otherwise healthy.

If your weight is normal(i.e not decreased in recent few months). Then don't worry you are on safe side and there is no cancer in your thyroid, esophagus or stomach .But if your elweight is decreased significantly then you need to consult your physician for proper workup as diagnosis of cancer in early stage is very necessary for treatment.
otherwise....difficulty in swallowing can be due to dry mouth bcz of medication in use..
or due to increased stomach acidity...for which you can use omeprazole 40 mg once daily on empty stomach and you have to avoid fatty and spicy foods.
