What Causes Difficulty In The Body Movement And Speech After Cranioplasty?

My husband suffered a major stroke 11months before. He underwent craniotectomy as swelling was immense in the brain. In may 2016 he underwent cranioplasty. Now after 11months of rigorous physio he is not able to rise himself. He can walk. There is also loss of speech he can only speak 2 or 3 words. Will he ever be independent. He is a diabetic too with multiple blockages in heart.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Without access to all of his medical information, it would be difficult to predict his prognosis . His doctors, physiotherapist , speech therapist and occupational therapist would be able to give you an accurate picture based on the imaging showing brain injury and his recovery so far.

It can be very difficult to come back from a stroke especially a major stroke and in the majority of cases, full function does not return.
In some cases however, some level of mobility does return but it would require persistent therapy.

It is often difficult for the carer to manage persons with stroke or other limitations both physically and emotionally. If possible, you should try to have either home help or family members come to assist where ever possible.

I hope this helps
