What Causes Difficulty In Urinating?

My husband is having some trouble urinating, Some pressure, urge to urinate, trace blood, stop and start stream. He had a urine culture, I thought it would be positive but it came back clean, no infection. Now they have ordered a blood test. I m very scared for him, thinking of course of cancer.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Based on your description, the reason why your husband could be having difficulty in passing urine could be due to constriction at the neck of the urinary bladder due to enlargement of prostate gland.
Kindly get an ultrasound scan of the abdomen done.
Consult Surgeon or Urologist promptly with the report for per rectal examination and further management.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
Regards,
Dr.Ashakiran.S.,
