Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 56 year old Caucasian woman. For approximately the last month I have been experiencing right flank pain. They would kind of come and go but never leave completely. My urine is extremely dark and cloudy and I have difficulty urinating sometimes. I ve had kidney stones in the past probably about 10 to 12 years ago and they were large and had to be blasted out with Liz lithotripsy. Since my symptoms seem to be recurring an escalating I feel that I m probably fighting with kidney stones. I just had some Labs drawn last week and they made several comments regarding my urine and indicated that I was in stage 3 renal disease. I ve made an appointment to see my family physician on Tuesday. The pain will over a period of time intensify to where it is almost intolerable and then after a period of time it will subside but it never goes away. This is kind of what happened when I had kidney stones several years ago. To make matters worse I have been out of town all week but I am home now. I ll be taking my lab report with me for the doctor to review on Tuesday. I know with my last episodes with kidney stones I had an 8 mm Stone sitting right on top of the ureter but somehow it managed to work its way down but not all the way down to the bladder. We use lithotripsy to bust up the stone and I had a stent placed that had to stay for 7 days... And that was God awful very uncomfortable but it was just a short. Of time after removing the stent to that I started passing the broken up Stone. I have some Pyridium here and I ve taken a couple of those and I am on Oxycodone 10 mg qid under my pain management contract with dr. James Hawk. My primary care physician is Abigail Pierce in Yellville and I will be seeing her on Tuesday. I have felt quite a bit of nausea but no vomiting and no fever as of yet. I plan to load up on water tonight and tomorrow to see if that will help. If this doesn t ease up a little or if it intensifies and gets worse I think I will be heading to narmc through ER. I guess I m just wondering if there s anything else you might recommend for me to do or try. I m extremely miserable. I m open for any suggestions you might have. I m a retired LPN so I m familiar with medical terms and some of the medications at cetera. Any assistance that you could provide to help me would be greatly appreciated. thank you so much for your time. Linda Rostom
