Hello, I m in my early 20 s and there s a chance that I may be pregnant. My boyfriend pointed out to me the other day that my nipples are a lot lighter. I explained to him that when women are pregnant, their nipples get darker. He seems to think that a woman s aerolas can get lighter too, or that the areolas get lighter before they get darker. I m not so sure he is right. Can someone help me figure out who is right and why my nipples are lighter?
During pregnancy the nipples get discoloured brownish. Thw areola does not become faint, on th contrary it also becomes brownish and also increases in size. The colour changes are permanent and hnce this rule is true only or first pregnancy. Your nipples might have become little lighter due to handling, particularly if you are very fair in complection. If you are keen in knowing whether you are pregnant or not, wait for the menses to come. If they do not, then after 8-10 days get urine pregnancy test and/or ultrasonography done. If these tests are performed earlier, their results are not reliable.
