What Causes Discoloration Of Skin On The Heel Post Physical Activity?

After engaging in physical activity and not wearing the correct foot attire I returned home and I found that my foot had blistered a normal occurence when adorning the incorrect footwear but on my left foot I found that the ball of my foot was discolored and the skin was a reddish purple. What is it? What should I do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The symptoms could occur due to alteration in blood supply. Try to give rest to the foot, avoid bearing weight for a long time and wear soft soled footwear. In addition, soak foot in lukewarm water with epsom salt twice a day for a few days to aid recovery.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ayesha Shareef, General & Family Physician
