What Causes Discoloration On The Nipples?

Hi there, I m, a 53yr old male Caucasian with an olive complexion. I recently noticed that my nipples are much darker than they used to be and I was wondering why. The only thing that s changed is that I m getting more rest and I ve changed my diet - I ve cut out processed sugars as and carbs - like pasta, bread, rice as well as any processed foods.. Would you happen to have any suggestions? Thanks a lot Matt

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Our body undergoes pigmentary changes due to age coupled with a hormonal overplay. Especially parts of the body that are under the control of hormones like chest and nipples. The lifestyle and dietary changes have some impact on the hormones as well. Unless you can see changes like discharge from the nipples, irregular growth, unevenness in both the nipples, it should be fine.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
