What Causes Discolouration Of Legs Post Amputation Due To Gangrene?

71 yr old gangrene in both legs, one leg was amputated below the knee,now needs to be cut higher, now other foot has turned black, he now refuses medical treatment, he left the hospital without Dr s permission. what is the life expectancy in this case?

Hello. Read your query and noted the contents.
To answer very frankly, it will be under a year. And if the gangrenous area becomes infected (wet gangrene) it will be sooner. Its a difficult decision to make primarily for the patient and the family. If he is not septic and if he disagrees the surgery then the option would be to dress the area and let nature take its course.
