What Causes Discomfort Around A Lumpectomy Site On The Breast?

Thank you. About a year ago I had my left sentinel lymph node removed during a lumpectomy procedure on my left breast. The node was cancer-free, thank goodness. Now, what happens up there in the lymph area? Do the other lymph nodes take over ? How? (And are there enough left to do the job?) I still have underarm discomfort in the area of the incision. Is this normal? I appreciate your help.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

There is normal thing, so many people have faces these type of problems. It is good you have done biopsy of removing part.

There is no cancer cell in removing part. If you have pain, then take pain killers, do not worry.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Purva Patel
