Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have discomfort extending from the anus to tailbone that I feel when sitting but is relived when standing. I have had hemorrhoids in the past. 64 years old.. No other health issues. I recently had a bout of diarrhea ( not constant , some light cramping ) followed by one episode of bright red bloody stools then mucousy stools , visited an Urgent Care center and was treated with 10 day course of Cipro . Stool samples taken revealed no bacterial infection . It is now 2 weeks since the episode , stools are soft but formed. What could be the cause of the discomfort ?
I think the discomfort is due to bowel infection you had. This is because the normal function of your bowels is not set yet. According to me, you should add: - Probiotics to stabilize intestinal flora - Check again if hemorrhoids are flare up with your proctologist - Get stool culture and sensitivity testing to rule out candida overgrowth.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
