What Causes Discomfort During Bowel Movement And Slight Bleeding After Defecation?
I am having lots of discomfort when I have a bowel movement. My stool is semi loose. I am having bright red blood on the tissue when I clean and it is very tender and inflammed. My spouse is a nurse and said it is from hemorrhoids and suggested a suppository. I have been checked out by a GI and have some bouts of IBS in past years. One year ago I had a colonoscopy and it turned out ok. I am a 48 year old male and not on any medications. Please advise and thank you in advance.
You need to consult a Gynaecologist for proper in office evaluation and fiagnosis. As you previously had IBS so more chances are for that. Your Gastroentrologist will run a battery of tests which may include but not limited to Comprehensive Metabolic Panel, repeat Colonoscopy etc. Treatment typically goes according to the cause.
Avoid constipation and take plenty of water. Take Citrucel dietary fiber supplement to help make proper stools with a bulk. Imodium is good if you still have loose motion. But avoid taking more than twice daily and that too after discussing with your treating physician.
Hope it helps. If you have further questions and need assistance, feel free to contact me anytime.
