What Causes Discomfort In The Abdomen On The Left Side?

Discomfort in left abdomen stretching from lower left back to inner feeling of left abdomen (from lower left ribcage). No numbness to feet/shoulder/hand etc. Done CT Scan and no abnormalities noted. Was described with Ganaton (Itopride hydrochloride 50mg) on 3x daily before each meal and Nexium mups esomeprazole 40mg 1x daily before each meal. However, the bloatedness is still felt and still feeling discomfort at left side of abdomen (between rib cage and pelvic). Questions: (1) what is the medicine for (2) based on these symptom, what is the likely cause? (3) do you suggest colonoscopy

Hello,

Most probable cause is colitis. You need to have disciplined food habits(bland), take a course of abdominal antibiotics (oflox oz 1bd).

Continue ganatone and neksium. As CT has already been done, an invasive diagnostic procedure like a colonoscopy is the best to answer.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
