Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Discomfort In The Ear And Swelling In The Neck?
have been experiencing slight discomfort in right ear (mild ache) accompanied by swelling in my neck on the right side. these seem to be related and have gone on for a month or more now, controllable with minimal aspirin or acetaminophen, but do not seem to be getting better on their own. I m trying to decide whether it s time to see my doctor about it. swelling/lump in neck (no pain) has me concerned.
I can understand your concern. It seems that you are suffering from an ear infection that has caused the lymph nodes of the neck to swell.
I would advise you to visit an ENT specialist for clinical examination of the ear. If infection is indeed present, you may need to do an antibiotic course.
If you are in pain right now, you can continue to take the analgesic. However, analgesics will temporarily mask the pain while underlying problem or infection persists.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you feel better soon.
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
