What Causes Discomfort In The Forehead And Excessive Sweating?
My 86 yr old mother is having episodes , that are becoming more frequent. It begins with her getting a strange feeling in her forehead, says it causes fuzzy thinking and she can feel it moving down her face, neck, chest and stomach. She breaks out in profuse sweat and become very weak. She s had blood work, ekg s, chest xrays, and anything else that the dr s can think of and everything appears normal. She s had blood sugar and bp done during the episodes and all is normal. Spent 3 hrs in the ER with her today and they found nothing. They want her monitored for a week. Any thoughts on what this could be?

Considering her age, it looks somatization disorder to me. In this condition, person may have several somatic complaints like headache, dizziness, sweating, stomach pain, back pain, neck pain, difficulty in passing urine or stool, etcetera. Investigations usually come normal for all the symptoms. So I will suggest you to consult a psychiatrist for your mother and get her evaluated. She may require SSRI group of medicines like Escitalopram for her somatic complaints.
