What Causes Discomfort In The Left Arm?

Hello,

For the past two days my left hand has been turning purple/blue..it seems to happen mid day and evening when I am up and moving the most. I have also having coughing spells that seem to worsen this....it goes away if I run my hands under warm water or once lying down to rest, not sure why this is happening????
