What Causes Discomfort In The Lower Back?

I m a 56 year old female and have noticed an area on my lower back/hip area that has gotten sensitive to the touch. Not really painful, but noticeable. No skin rashes, but wondering if this could be the onset of shingles? I ve not gotten the shingles vaccination, but plan to tomorrow. Would getting the vaccination now prevent it from developing if in fact this could be the beginning of shingles?

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

If the process of singles have already set in then there is no use of vaccines. Here, if you can upload us an image I will be able to tell you exactly it is singles or something else. There are various other possibilities as well other than singles like sebaceous cyst, boil or fruncle.

In my opinion you should consult your GP in your own time for physical examination and take further course of action. Meanwhile keep it clean and apply antiseptic solution, you can take anti histaminic drugs if it itches.
