What Causes Discomfort In The Upper Abdomen While On Nexium For GERD?

Hi there, lately I have notice a stick pin sensation in my upper abdomen. It s not painful, just uncomfortable, I am aware of it. It is a bit alarming. I take nexium for GERD, secondary to having my gallbladder remove several years ago. I have tried to adjust my eating habits, but GERD reigns. Occasionally, I have floating stools, not often. Everything else is fine.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to GERD. I suggest you use antacids daily such as Maalox.

I also suggest using daily PPI medication such as Nexium in the morning before breakfast. I suggest using a regular diet rich in fibers.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
