What Causes Discomfort In The Upper Chest While On Protonix?

Hello: I current have acid reflux and take the generic form of Protonix for the past 10days - 2 weeks I ve had a discomfort in the upper chest area but more profound in the upper right collarbone area. Went to the ER and had x-rays taken on Monday of my right shoulder area (they came back negative), but I m still having the discomfort NOT a SHARP PAIN just an underlying dull ache - I am also addicted to Sprit Zero and now playing things over in my mind as to what could be causing this......so I stopped drinking the soda for the past 4 days and the discomfort seems to be not as notable.....as least now I can bend over without it hurting so can you Please help and ease my mind. Thank You in advance for any and all suggestions on what to do next? BigMomma

Hi,

Pain that is the boring type, and that does not respond to Protonex is unlikely to be because of acid reflux. Especially if the pain is worse with body movement, it more looks like sore muscles.

So I would suggest while you continue your Protnex, you should also use some over the counter painkiller like paracetamol for the pain relief for a few days. It's great that X-ray is normal and I hope it would be fine in a few days.
